I was talking with a guy from an insurance company for my quote and he said he would give me an update tomorrow.
So I wrote back and said 'Thanks, I'll be waiting for the update tomorrow.'
However, I thought, that 'update' was not specific yet at this point.
This 'update' is specific in a sense it is the update I'm going to get, or, it is the update on something we have been discussing.
But at the same time what is in this update is not specific yet (otherwise it wouldn't be an update).
I think I can say 'Thank you for the update.' after I actually got it, but at this point which is correct, 'a (an)' or 'the' update?
